World Press Freedom Day

World Press Freedom Day

The Ambassador of France to Botswana invited members of the media industry (both governmental and private) and members of the diplomatic corps to a reception in order to celebrate the media in Botswana.

This reception aimed at providing a physical platform that allowed journalist to network, get to know each other, exchange contacts, or even discuss further collaborations.

In his speech, His Excellency Mr. Pierre Voillery reaffirmed the constant and unwavering commitment of the French government to press freedom, to the freedom of expression and to the protection of journalists worldwide. Media pluralism and the freedom to share critical views are indeed key to a democratic, free and fruitful debate.

As to the media in Botswana, he highlighted the collaboration that exists between some newspapers and Agence France Presse.
