Reception on the occasion of the French National Day
On the Occasion of the French National Day, Her Excellency Anne de la Blache, Ambassador of France to Botswana offered a reception in the gardens of the French Residence.
The Ambassador of France, H.E. Anne de la Blache, in her opening remarks, recalled that this year’s ceremony was placed under the sign of remembrance as we commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War one. 80 Nations are represented in Paris for this special 2014 National Day Celebration. The Ambassador praised Botswana as an example of good democratic governance and reaffirmed France’s commitment to work with Botswana bilaterally or through the EU Development Fund of which France is one of the Main contributors.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Honorable Phandu Skelemani highlighted in his speech, given both in French and English, the excellent relations between the two countries, especially regarding cultural cooperation and acknowledged France’s support to the development of the country as one of the main contributors to the EDF.
The French National Day was the occasion for the numerous guests, Botswana personalities, members of the diplomatic community and French citizens in Gaborone, to appreciate French Champagne, wine and cheese and to watch the 14th of July Champs-Elysées parade.
