Reception at the Residence of France in the honour of the National Day [fr]
On the Occasion of French National Day, Her Excellency Mrs Anne de la Blache, Ambassador of France to Botswana offered a reception in the gardens of her Residence.
The Ambassador’s speech highlighted the excellent relations between the two countries, in particular in the cooperation, university, cultural and economic fields.
The Ambassador also had a few words to thank the sponsors who supported the event: Orange, Thales and Total; St-Gobain, Mérial, Véolia, EDF, Air Liquide, Astrium-GEO, AGS Frasers, Morpho/Peugeot, Renault and Home Corp.
Dr Somolekae, Assistant Minister of Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, responded to the speech on the half of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation who was travelling abroad. She welcomed the ongoing strong ties between France and Botswana and the very good state of the bilateral cooperation; she also called particularly for a strengthening of business and trade relations.
After the speeches, the numerous guests, Batswana personalities, Ministers, Members of Parliament or representatives of the business and academic communities, members of the diplomatic corps and members of the French community of Gaborone, while listening to a medley of “chansons françaises” and watching the 14th of July Champs-Elysées parade on a big screen, enjoyed a lively party where French Champagne, wine and cheese were particularly appreciated.
