Photographic exhibition “Landscapes of Botswana: Gaborone with a view” at the Alliance française [fr]
The Embassy of France to Botswana, Special Representation to SADC, and the Alliance Française de Gaborone have launched the photographic exhibition “Landscapes of Botswana: Gaborone with a view”, on 15th May 2014.
About fifty distinguished guests, among whom the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Mr. Skelemani, The exhibition was jointly opened by Hon. Minister Gloria Somolekae, Assistant Minister of Health, officially representing the Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism and H.E Mrs. Anne de la Blache, Ambassador of France to Botswana.
In her speech, the Ambassador congratulated the government of Botswana for its strong commitment on the protection of the Environment. She stressed that this exhibition should allow Gaborone residents to discover some of these famous landscapes which make Botswana famous but are located too far from this city for them to visit.
Hon. Minister Gloria Somolekae then paid tribute to the talent of the four artists whose photographs were exhibited. She thanked the French Embassy and the Alliance Française for their active role in promoting arts and culture in Botswana. Finally, Mr. Ulf Nermark, artist-photographer, shared his experience as a photographer with the audience.
The exhibition will be open to the public at the Alliance Française until 30 May.
