Partcipation in the « Youth and Languages, a complete journey into a Global World !» seminar at the University of Botswana [fr]
Ms. Solveig Monvoisin, Cooperation Attaché, represented the Embassy at the “Youth and Languages, a complete journey into a Global World!” seminar, which took place at the University of Botswana, Library Auditorium, on Friday 25th April 2014. This seminar was organized by the different foreign languages departments of this university, namely: French, Chinese, Portuguese, and by the Confucius Institute.
The objective was to highlight the importance of foreign languages in Botswana. The program comprised presentation of academic papers, of national or regional policies, as well as artistic performances by students such as theatre, dance, songs and poetry.
Asked to present conclusions for the workshop, the Cooperation Attaché, emphasized on the various benefits linked to the learning of foreign languages in today’s globalized world. She finally congratulated the University of Botswana administration on the future creation of a department of foreign languages, the University of Botswana faculty for the impressive level of the students, and the students for their dynamism and commitment.
