Organisation of the Beaujolais Nouveau event for the benefit of the NGO “Kagisano Society Women’s Shelter” [fr]
On Thursday 27 November, the Embassy organized the traditional Beaujolais Nouveau event for the benefit of “Kagisano Society Women’s Shelter” at the Alliance Française de Gaborone.
About 80 guests gathered in a relaxed atmosphere, and enjoyed French cheeses and charcuterie, as well as the famous Beaujolais nouveau wine.
The proceeds from the evening reached 20 840 Pulas (around 1770 €) and has officially be handed over to “Kagisano Society Women’s Shelter” during a ceremony at the NGO’s premises on Friday, 5 December. The funds raised will be used for the Accreditation of the Organization’s Gender Based Violence Facilitators’ Training Program with Botswana Qualification Authority.
The event provided an opportunity to raise awareness about gender based violence. In Botswana, only two shelters host women victims of gender based violence:
« Kagisano Society Women’s Shelter » in Gaborone, and the « Women against Rape » shelter in Maun.
