Jewelry: the exchange program between OCAAT(Botswana) and BJO Training (France)
On 9 October, 2015, the French Ambassador, HE Mrs Anne de la Blache, attended a jewelry exhibition organized by the director and the students of the Jewelry Design and Manufacture department at Oodi College of Applied Arts and Technology (OCAAT).
This event allowed all visitors to discover an original artistic universe. The jewelry made with pearls, leather and silver were displayed in a spacious hall and some factsheets explained the different stages of the students’ work. Then the students organized a fashion show to showcase their own artistic creations.
The exhibition was also an opportunity to meet two students, Ms. Gaone Caroline Otsile and Ms. Barulaganye Oratile, who will soon be traveling to France.
This trip is part of a training program provided by the recent partnership agreement signed on 22 June, 2015 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Venson-Moitoi and Mrs Bernadette Pinet-Cuoq, CEO of Bijouterie & Joaillerie of Paris (BJOP), as well as Mr Sid Boubekeur for the CDE, acting as a facilitator for the Women Entrepreneurship Development Program (WED) which supports the project.
These two students, selected for their passion and talent, will receive a personalized coaching during two weeks at the BJO Centre in Paris, one of the most famous schools worldwide in high-jewellery. In an interview during the exhibition, these two young women appeared highly motivated and enthusiastic. They consider this training as an opportunity which will allow them to develop new artistic and technical skills and contribute to the development of the jewellery manufacturing sector in Botswana.
