Grant signing ceremony : Global Fund helps Botswana fight HIV and Tuberculosis
On 1 February 2016, The Global Fund signed two new grants with Botswana during a ceremony attended by HE Ms. Anne de la Blache, Ambassador of France to Botswana, who was among the heads of mission asked to sign as a honorary party.
These grants will help Botswana in their specific programs dedicated to preventing and treating people affected by HIV and tuberculosis.
With a total of $ 27 million, the financial resources provided by the Global Fund to Botswana come from several partners, France being the second largest contributor to the Global Fund, after the United States.
Alongside the French and American Ambassadors, the British, German, EU, Japan and UN Heads of Mission attended the ceremony.
This partnership represents a major step in the fight against HIV and tuberculosis, whose prevalence rates in Botswana remain among the highest in the world.
The French Ambassador congratulated the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM)/Botswana members, the Global Fund and the Botswana government for their wonderful commitment.
