Farewell reception for the president of the France-Botswana Business Club

The Embassy hosted on the 18th April 2018 a reception at the residence of France, in order to bid farewell to Mr Fabrice Gaussen, president of the FBBC, and to gather the French and Botswana business communities.

The new ministry for Investment, Trade and Industry, Honourable Bogolo Kenewendo, was representing the government of Botswana.

On this occasion, the Ambassador of France to Botswana extended his congratulations to the people and the government of Botswana for the smooth political transition that took place on the 1st of April.

He also thanked Mr. Fabrice Gaussen for the role he played as the head of the FBBC. The Ambassador then recalled the many initiatives taken by this embassy to foster the economic ties between France and Botswana. He also hailed the French companies represented in Botswana for the good job they are doing.

The ministry for Investment, Trade and Industry, thanked the French and Botswana companies for the multiple jobs they have been creating for Batswana. She expressed gratitude for the involvement and support of France towards the growth of the Botswana economy. She furthermore recalled the commitment of the government to grow the private sector, particularly in the industrial sectors, in order to develop an export-led economy.

The ministry reassured potential investors about the willingness of the government of Botswana to make it easier to come and invest in the country. In this regard, she said that “Botswana should really roll out the red carpet which is promised to the investors, because the neighbors will do such”.

Fabrice Gaussen and Patrick Benon (vice-president of the FBBC), mentioned one after the other the importance of this business club which put together the French business community. They commended the Embassy for its support, and urged all the representatives from the private sector interested in France to join the club.
