Celebration of the International Women’s Day at the Residence of France [fr]
On the occasion of the 2014 edition of the International Women’s Day, H.E Mrs Anne de la Blache hosted a reception at the Residence of France on Monday 10 March 2014. Attorney General, Dr Athaliah Molokomme was the Guest of honour of the sixth edition of this celebration at the French Embassy in Botswana.
Several side events were organized at the Residence, on this occasion:
In support of the Women Entrepreneurship Programme of the Centre for the Development of Enterprise, funded by Chanel French Corporate Foundation, several women running small-scale businesses were invited to exhibit their products, ranging from processed marula fruit to jewellery, textile and leather craft goods.
The amazing young Choir and band from Rainbow School enthusiastically performed throughout the evening and livened up the reception.
The talented Poet and Writer, Mr Legodile Seganabeng, better known as “Dredd X”, came from Maun to inspire the guests with his beautiful poetic meditations advocating the cause of women
In her address delivered to an audience of around 140 guests, with a majority of women, H.E the Ambassador of France raised the issues of gender-based violence and of the role of women in economic development. Dr Athaliah Molokomme gave then a very inspiring key-note address, showing her commitment to the cause of women.
Among the guests were the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation, the Minister of Presidential Affairs, the Assistant Minister of Health, the Governor of the Bank of Botswana, Members of Parliament and Judges, Members of the Diplomatic community and many other distinguished guests.
