Award of the National Order of Merit to Ms. Elisabeth Medou-Badang [fr]
By decree, dated 1 July 2013, signed by H.E. Mr. François Hollande, President of the French Republic, Mrs. Elisabeth Medou-Badang, CEO of Orange Botswana, was made Chevalier in the Ordre National du Mérite.
After significant missions for PROPARCO, a subsidiary of the French Agency of Development, and Orange Cameroon, Elisabeth Medou-Badang, CEO of Orange Botswana since 2010, is today recognized as one of the most influent leaders in African telecoms. Under her lead, the Gaborone based company has experienced great results, earning three profitability points in two years, developing innovative services and getting involved in the general growth of the country. The different partnerships with the University of Botswana, the sponsorships to community organisations fighting HIV/AIDS, or the increasing number of population with access to telecommunications, are part of those achievements.
This award is a recognition of Ms. Medou-Badang’s managerial skills and vision. She widely contributes to the dynamism of Orange, a French multinational telecommunications corporation, as a major economic actor in Botswana but also as a partner of the country’s development through the empowerment of its people.
H.E. Mrs Anne de la Blache, Ambassador of France to Botswana, Special Representative to SADC, bestowed on Mrs. Medou-Badang the insignia of Chevalier dans l’Ordre national du Mérite during a ceremony held at the Residence of France, on 20 September 2013.
